Overwhelmed by the current state of chaos in our world and unsure of how to focus my next body of work, Wunderkammer was a ground zero attempt at building a new idea around responding to that chaos. The series became an exploration and reaction to previous pieces in the series as well as a to the current political news of that day. The pieces document potential connections between the subjects of politics, economics and nature in the hopes of making some sense of our current reality.
In the end, the pieces revealed a solution, a new series about our current politics, Homage to Democracy, that combines the 3D cube works with gridded cutwork. The series is comprised of textiles, paintings, drawings, printmaking and ceramics.
