Investigating the three dimensional properties of fabric construction, this series is a diversion from making quilts. The series involves the traditional methods of quilt making and sewing to make new objects with a variety of meanings.
The first piece, Correlated Inhibition, is a response to an invitation to show at Rare Device in January 2015. The theme, "Dead of Winter", encouraged the invited artists to study ideas of botanical life forms in their winter states of hardening, dormance and decay. I chose to interpret what would occur within the cellular structure of a plant, when fibers expand and water remaining in the plant becomes viscous. You can read more about the exhibition here.
